LAGUNA 69 / LAKE 69 Distance: 12 km Altitude: 3900m to 4600m Rating: moderate Lake 69 is the most beautiful lake in the Cordillera Blanca and become popular by its easy reach in just a one day hike. We offer one day hiking services including a hiking guide and transfer from Huaraz with daily departures. Hiking the 69 lake from the trail, you will enjoy the wonderful mountain views of Pisco 5752masl Chacraraju 6112masl, Yanapacha 5460masl, and Huascaran 6678masl northern and southern peaks. Itinerary: Early morning breakfast is at your hotel in Huaraz, then our touristic bus will pick you up around 5am and drive to the start of the hike at Cebollapampa. It will take three hours approximately. You then begin on a moderate slope for about 4 hours before you reach lake 69. When you get to lake 69 you will have enough time to discover its beauty making for many unforgettable pictures. You can walk around the lake and take it all in. After a couple of hours you will come back the same trail at Cebollapampa where our bus will be waiting for you. Board the bus and return to Huaraz, arriving at around 7pm. Lagunas de Llanganuco / Llanganuco Lakes full day Bus Tours

Llanganuco Morning Breakfast in the hotel and then we depart at 9am takes place from our private tour bus station, Church in Huaraz, depart in north direction of Llanganuco Lakes, which are located between the mountains of Huascaran and Huandoy, tour starts in Huaraz at 3100masl. Passing by several typical villages like Monterrey, Paltay, Tarica, Jangas, Yungar Anta appreciating the beautiful white mountains of Huandoy, Huascaran, Hualcan, Copa and others. You can make a photo-stop from the various viewing points on the way. continue on to Marcara, Carhuaz 2650masl, Yungay this buried city holds history; a 7 degree earthquake took place in 31 May 1970 at 3:20pm, pieces of the Huascaran mountain’s north peak broke off and caused a huge avalanche of mud and ice and in 6 seconds destroyed Yungay province. a guided visit will take you around 45 minutes, 1km north is New Yungay, from here start ascending the dusty road up to Llanganuco Lakes. Further on for about one hour we arrive at the base of the Mountain Huascaran and Huandoy, continue until the place called Cebollapampa trail head for Pisco Mountain Climbing and Lake 69, from here start walking along the valley visiting the lakes first Orconcocha and bird watching, continue to Chinacocha Lake, here take alternative activities such as sailing with small boats or take horse riding, then continue waking along the nicest trail of Maria Josefa full of vegetation, where at the end the bus will be waiting and take to the countryside typical restaurant for lunch by their own, We come back the same way to Yungay then drive back to Huaraz, arriving at around 6pm to our terminal of Bus Station. Description: The archaeological site of Chavín de Huántar sits at an elevation of 3,177m (10,425ft) above sea level in the Peruvian Andes and is located at the confluence of the Mosna and Wacheksa rivers. Chavín once intersected several major trade routes through the Cordillera Blanca mountain range, a strategic location for the capital of the Chavín civilization. The site is located near the Callejón de Huáyla Valley where the village of Chavín de Huántar is located. Chavín is now served by a recently-upgraded, asphalt roadway. Covering 12,000 sq m (129,167 sq ft), the site includes massive temple structures with significant interior and subterranean space, pyramidal platforms, courts, and sunken plaza spaces, most of which are aligned on a common axis. Over time, river floods have eroded much of this stone architecture; its mountainous location has also made it susceptible to destructive landslides (as recent as 1945) and earthquakes (as recent as 1970) over the centuries. PASTORURI Description: Located in the south part of the Cordillera Blanca, its one of the glaciers left in the tropical areas of South America; the glacier is around 8 square kms in size, and around 4km long with a terrestrial snow ending, the glacier is retreating quickly, it has lost 22% of its size and 15.5% on its ice mass in the last 30 years. The glacier occupies an Andean peak around 5250masl and so has steep, cliff like edges, with heavily crevassed areas characteristic of a chirque glacier. Itinerary: Breakfast in the morning at hotel depart at 8am, driving south side huaraz, at 25km we will visit Recuay province at 3300masl, and continue to Ticampampa 3400masl, Catac 3500masl, continue to Pachacoto from here we will turn east side by unpaved road wonderful landscape of highlands full of straw and cold wind, traditional with sheep herders, after 15km from highway we will stop next to small lake called patococha for birdswatching wild ducks, andean goose caracara birds and others, then the next stop will be at Gasified water stream drinkable gasified water flowing underground, then continue to next stop at enormous flowers of PuyaRaymondi, and changing colour small lake at pumapampa changing color is effect of radiation of the sun and mineral containing rocky inside the water, continue to petroglyph paints, then after few km aprox 10 we will arrive to Pastoruri parking place, from here to get the Ice Mountain is about 1km, you can make easy hiking or horse back ride to get the snow mountain of Pastoruri, once here you will enjoy walking around and visit the Iced Lake and Ice cave, after few hours of staying in Pastoruri back the same way drive direct to Huaraz arriving around 6pm. PARON LAKE ( private only, US$ 100 per person and minimum reservation 2 passengers) Description: Lake Paron 4200masl is the largest lake in the Cordillera Blanca, on the Peruvian Andes, 32km east from the city Caraz. Its nested and surrounded by several snow peaks specially by Pyramid 5885masl from where the Paramount picture company logo was taken. Paron lake formed as a natural reservoir has a catchment area of 44.3km2, it is 3.7km long from east to west and average of 7000m width from north to south, the original depth was about 75m, but today the level was lowered 15m to prevent the collapse of the moraine, the water from the lake was formerly used for the canon del pato hydroelectric scheme, since 29 july 2008, this condition has ceased. The lake itself is within the borders of the Huascaran National Park. The water level is controlled by a tunnel and underwater gate, to keep water level at 4155masl aiming a double objective to prevent the overflow and the resulting risk for the downstream population and to manage the river discharge. The high concentrations of dissolved lime give the water of Paron lake a turquoise color It’s a popular day hike for those willing to acclimatize or even ride a Mountain Bike downhill (there is almost 2000m drop to caraz).
